What is Metal Slit?

Time:2023-08-11 Views:371
Metal Slit is common used metal component that can be applied across multiple industries and fields. Today we will focus on the industry applications and its common types.
Metal slit is usually made of stainless steel, copper alloy, titanium alloy, molybdenum alloy, tungsten alloy, or some other metall materials. The most common metal process technology to make metal slits is chemical etching and laser cutting
Chemical etching is a common metal process for making high precision metal slits. By applying a chemical etching solution on the surface of stainless steel and controlling etching rate, required slit width (or hole size) can be formed precisely, Chemical etching can achieve very small and precise cuts, and can process ultra thin metal materials, such as 0.02mm thick stainless steel SUS304, 0.025mm thick stainless steel, 0.05mm thick beryllium copper sheet, the minimum slit width (or hole size) can be 0.05mm, and the tolerance can reach at +/-0.01mm level. Chemical etching also has the characteristics of burr free and good flatness, however, etching metal slit requires longer manufacturing time and higher cost.
Another process of making metal slits is laser cutting. Laser cutting can provide a quicker and more accurate metal cutting process. the high-focus, high-energy laser beam shot on metal surface can melt the metal material to form opening (slit or hole). Laser cutting metal slits are extremely precise and highly consistent, making them realiable for mass production. The common specifications of laser cut metal slits are 0.01mm (ie 10 microns) slit, 0.02mm slit (or micro hole), 0.05mm slit width, 0.1mm slit width, and the precision can achieve micron level (+/-0.003 mm, +/-0.005mm), the smallest micropore can open is 10 microns or even smaller.
Metal slits have good corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and is widely used in varieties application of optical industry. For example, in lenses, metal slit can adjust light transmission properties and change the path that light travels; in optical filters, metal slit is used to control the passage of light of specific wavelengths; furthermore, in laser devices, metal slit can control the shape and intensity distribution of the laser beam. Therefore, metal slits are widely used as control and adjustment function moldule in optical industry.
Metal slit also being widely used in many other industries. For example, it also plays an important role in the manufacture of electronic devices. In integrated circuit boards, slits are often used to separate different functional areas on the circuit board. Additionally, the slits can be used to create pixels or touch sensors in electronic displays or touch screens.
In summary, metal slit is an important and widely used application of metal components. Whether it is in the manufacture of optical components, or in industries such as metal processing and electronic device manufacturing, metal slit plays an indispensable role.
