Advantages of Etching Processing for Precision Metal Parts

Time:2023-06-24 Views:538

Precision metal parts processing is usually described as the process of changing the shape, size and performance of the metal by using mechanical equipment. The processing technology of metal mechanical parts is also increasing with the development of science and technology, and there are various ways to process machinery. The traditional processing technology mainly includes five ways: drilling, turning and boring, milling, grinding, planing and slotting. However, for precision and fine metal products, other processing methods are needed, including laser processing, etching processing, stamping, wire cutting, water knife cutting, and electroforming, Since the thickness of laser processing through beam needs to be considered, the metal surface will be damaged by laser processing below 0.1MM, and the best process choice for the size below 1MM is etching.

The etching process usually refers to etching, also known as photochemical etching, which refers to the removal of the protective film of the area to be etched after plate-making exposure and development. During etching, the metal is exposed to the chemical solution. Two positive patterns are used to dissolve the corrosion through chemical flooding from both sides, forming a concave-convex or hollow-out molding effect.

Due to the extremely high tolerance and miniaturization requirements in the semiconductor field, etching is the most ideal choice for processing specific metal parts for semiconductor chips, contactors (spring terminals) for packaging inspection, and lead frames for semiconductor packaging. In our daily life, the precision of the folding screen, wire plate, temperature equalizing plate, microwave antenna, etc. that we touch on our mobile phone requires micrometer level, and the minimum thickness of metal parts can reach 0.01MM. The advantages of etching processing are mainly as follows:

1. Low mold opening cost, metal film can be drawn in two hours, and any shape mold can be changed to reduce design and development costs.

2. Machining and etching of metal parts can ensure extremely high precision, with the maximum precision of+/-0.01mm, which can meet the requirements of precise assembly and filtration of different parts, and improve product quality and precision.

3. Any etching product with complex shape can also be produced in batches with quality and quantity guaranteed, and the unit price will not be affected.

4. The metal parts shall be processed by etching process to ensure that the products have no burr, indentation, deformation and material properties.

5. The metal parts produced by chemical etching process can realize the parts and components products that cannot be achieved by traditional stamping or sheet metal machining.
